To log into a router, you will need the router’s IP address and a username and password. The default IP address, username, and password can be found on our site dedicated to routers, or on the bottom or back of the router.
How to access router’s web admin:
- Open a web browser and enter the router’s IP address in the address bar. Press Enter.
- When prompted, enter the router’s username and password.
- Click “OK” or “Log In” to log into router settings.
If you have never changed the login credentials, you can try using the default username and password, which is usually admin for both. If you have changed the login credentials and you’ve forgotten them, you may need to reset the router to factory defaults.
Why should you log into router settings and control it regularly:
Controlling router settings can help improve the performance and security of your home network. Some examples of router settings you may want to control include:
- Changing the default login credentials to prevent unauthorized access to your network
- Enabling WPA3 encryption to protect your wireless network from hacking attempts
- Setting up a guest network to provide internet access to visitors without giving them access to your private network
- Configuring Quality of Service (QoS) settings to prioritize bandwidth for certain types of traffic (e.g. streaming video)
- Enabling remote management so you can access and adjust your router settings from anywhere
- Updating the firmware to ensure your router has the latest security patches and features
By controlling your router settings, you can better protect your network, optimize your internet connection and make it more convenient to use.
